Ok this isnt working for me. I'm trying to add the clipping masks only to areas of my image which I have selected, i.e. not the whole image. So I have a painting of flowers, and I have selected their centres, and I want only those centres to be gold, but nothing happens when I use your technique. Any suggestions please?

Folks, make sure the cursor is on the line between the two layers or the masking thingy won't show up. Anybody else spend 30 minutes trying this before they figured that part out?
